MARK BYRAM II
Writer · Creative Director · Narrative · Multi-disciplinary Artist

Writer, producer, creative director. I love great characters. I want to make masterpieces.

NO, SERIOUSLY. AND I WANT TO HELP YOU.

I co-founded Duonix Studios with the goal of making inspired, refreshing narrative games. I'm passionate about storytelling with rich characters, imaginative worlds, and stories that leave a lasting emotional impact.

With over a decade of independent storytelling experience and a proven ability to lead teams through full-cycle production, I help teams and artists find the heart of their story through scripts, story development, and mentorship.

I also work to provide supportive materials like trailers, editing, and campaign copy. Interested in having me write for your project, or looking for consultation or mentorship through the creative process?

Hey. I'm Mark.

  • Mark?
That's my name. I currently live in Nashville, TN. I’m a writer, multi-disciplinary artist and creative director focused on complex characters, rich meaning, and emotional stories. I've created films, animation, games, short stories, long stories, and everything else under the sun. I live and breathe storytelling.
  • My story
I've worn many hats over my decade plus of experience, so I'm used to handling nearly the whole production stack of hats. My goal when I'm creating is to shoot for masterpieces and nothing lower. Let me explain.
  • How do you define a masterpiece?
Seems subjective. Three great factors I can think of:
    1. A deep sense of internal coherance, where no piece feels misplaced
    2. Every piece of the puzzle is in service to the whole of the work
    3. The work itself contains a magic quality that causes the viewer-reader-player to leave deeply transformed.

    Wait, magic quality?
If something is specific enough, true enough, strange enough, beautiful enough, and it seems to stack itself in such a marvelous way, art can carry a life of its own. It has to be alive. If you eat it, and it passes right through, it wasn't alive enough. If you can't stop thinking about it, and it changes you forever... Are you onto something?
  • Beyond games
I think literature, cinema, and life provides a richer creative production. I encourage you wholeheartedly to go out and smell the roses. Your game will be so much better for it.
